A fleeting brainwave
Billy Prion’s billboards (Tokyo and Moscow) in Pattern Recognition are mutations of Dr. T. J. Eckleburg’s billboard from The Great Gatsby. Needless to say, this particular avenue of thought can be traveled down in the direction of what this says about the world and the existential atmosphere in Gibson.
